Term 3 Week 1 - Olympics

 This week the year 2s watched women's single sculls and eights at school. We were so excited to see Emma Twigg win the gold medal and the eight rowers winning the silver! We cheered our heart out and we are so proud of the New Zealand athletes who are competing at the Tokyo Olympics. 

Term 2 Week 9 - Handwriting

 This year we've been regularly doing handwriting as part of our learning. We are learning to sit up nice and straight, to put the other hand on the book, to focus and take time to write each letters correctly and carefully when doing handwriting. 

Term 2 Week 8 - Trip to the Museum!

This week Monday the whole Year 2 went to the museum. We were so excited to see the volcano, fossils, different arts from various countries and so much more. We also enjoyed the dinosaur education session. Did you know that penguins are classified as avian dinosaurs? 

Term 2 Week 7 - Maths fun

 This week in Room 7, different groups have been learning different topics during maths. Some of us have been learning about the place value of 2-digit numbers, some practiced learning numbers before and after, others practiced writing numbers correctly and some people learned to skip count in 2s!

Term 2 Week 6 - Hosting the Junior School Assembly

 Today Room 7 hosted the Junior School Assembly. Some people learned the script to read in front of the whole Year 1,2 and 3 students and teachers! It was quite nervous but we did a great job. We also showed our artwork that we made for maths, where we learned about shapes and made some shapes into a snail, inspired by Henri Matisse. Well done Room 7!

Term 2 Week 5 - Bible Class!

 This term we have Bible tutors coming in to teach us about the Bible. Not all of us are taking in part of this, so the people who aren't doing Bible are in another class doing other work. We've been learning about some people and fun stories from the Bible. Have a look at some of our works!

Term 2 Week 4 - Maths

 This week Room 7 has been learning about different shapes as part of the geometry strand. We talked about different types of shapes as well of the attributes of them. We then used an attribute to sort different shapes into groups. Some groups used colour, number of sides or same shapes.
